Estimates & Pricing
Yes, estimates are always free. We'll come to your property, assess the scope of work, and provide you with a detailed written quote at no cost or obligation.
For most residential and renovation projects, you'll have your written estimate within 2–5 business days of our site visit. Larger commercial or multi-phase projects may take a bit longer to scope accurately.
Most of our work is quoted as a fixed project price, so you know exactly what you're paying before we start. This protects you from surprise costs. For smaller tasks or ongoing maintenance work, hourly rates may apply. We'll be upfront about which applies to your job.
We accept e-transfer, cheque, and cash. For larger projects, we typically work on a milestone-based payment schedule, a deposit to begin, with remaining payments tied to project stages. Full terms are outlined in your contract before any work starts.
The Process
Our schedule books up quickly, especially in spring and summer. We recommend reaching out 4–8 weeks before your ideal start date for renovations, and 2–3 months ahead for new construction or larger builds.
Every project is different. A bathroom renovation may take 1–2 weeks; a full home build can span several months. We provide a realistic timeline in your quote and keep you updated throughout. We don't overcommit — if we give you a date, we mean it.
Yes. You'll work directly with Eli Demorest from estimate through completion. No being passed around to different people — you get one number to call and one person who knows your project inside and out.
Absolutely. We do this regularly and take it seriously, daily cleanup, contained work areas, and clear communication about noisy or dusty phases. We'll coordinate with you to minimize disruption to your daily routine.
Licensing & Trust
Yes. Demorest Contracting is fully licensed and carries liability insurance in British Columbia. We're happy to provide documentation upon request a legitimate contractor should never hesitate to show you this.
Yes, we handle the permitting process on your behalf for any work that requires it. We're familiar with the City of Port Alberni and Regional District requirements and will ensure everything is properly permitted and inspected.
For specialty work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), we coordinate with trusted, licensed trades we've worked with long-term. You'll always know who is on your property and why. Eli remains your single point of accountability throughout.
